The Greenwood County Department of Parks and Recreation’s facilities,
programs, and activities are open to everyone, regardless of race, color,
national origin, age, handicap, or sex. The program is designed to give youth
residing in the area the opportunity to play in an organized and adult
supervised youth program. It is strictly a recreational outlet for our youth
and is not intended to make professional players. There are no fees charged for
youth programs in Greenwood County. The purpose of all Youth Leagues is teaching
fundamentals and good sportsmanship and allowing kids to have fun through
athletic competition.

Rain Out Information / Inclement
Weather
In the event that the Athletics Office has to cancel any of the scheduled
league games due to bad weather or poor playing conditions caused by inclement
weather, the staff will update the Rain Out Number to alert the public
of the games that will be cancelled for that evening. It is the coach's
responsibility to call 942-8721 and share the updated league information with
his or her teammates.
The recorder will be updated no later than 4:00 pm of that particular game day.
Every effort will be made to conduct these games. This decision is not solely
judged by the amount of rain alone, it has more to do about the safety
conditions of the fields. Please do not assume that if it is raining in your
area of town, that it was enough to rain out our games at the ballfields. Also,
it may have rained more on our ballfields than it did in your area of town.
Games will also be cancelled when a lightning storm becomes an issue. So always
make sure to check the rain out number after 4:00 pm if you are not sure of the
status of your game for that evening.
If games are suspended due to lightning you are to go immediately to 1) your
car or 2) take shelter inside a building. DO NOT remain in dugouts, on
playing fields, under trees or picnic shelters or remain in any unsafe area.
Games may resume once lightning threat has diminished.
The situation may come up that when we make the call of conducting our leagues
and the weather conditions worsen between 4:00 pm and the first scheduled game
time, the decision to play the games lies solely on the supervisor scheduled to
work that evening. In the event that a decision is made that the playing
conditions are not safe at game time and decide to cancel games, we will update
the rain out number to alert the coaches and players of the cancellation.
The recorder will only be updated when necessary. Call 942-8721 after 4:00 pm
to get the rain out information for that evening.
